About Judi Burkitt
When nature and art meet…
Judi’s love of art developed from a young age and found an outlet in abstract portraiture and sculpture. As her confidence grew she began experimenting more with materials and styles.
Raising a family took her away from her art for some years but she has returned to it since retiring and has developed a style which reflects her love of the beach and nature. A keen gardener, Judi draws inspiration from her outdoor surroundings and creates pieces that blend wonderfully in the home.
She gives her pieces an edge by repurposing driftwood and stone with colourful Mendhi-inspired graffiti, a nod to her love of India’s vibrant culture.

In her recent works, Judi has delved deeper into the fusion of natural elements with contemporary art forms. Her acrylic paintings often depict abstract interpretations of coastal landscapes, capturing the essence of the sea and shoreline through bold colors and dynamic compositions. This approach not only showcases her technical skills but also conveys her deep connection to the coastal environment.

Judi’s participation in local art communities has further enriched her artistic practice. As a member of the South East Open Studios (SEOS), she has opened her studio to the public, allowing art enthusiasts to engage directly with her creative process. This involvement has provided her with valuable feedback and fostered a deeper connection with her audience.

Her inaugural exhibition at the Red Door Gallery in Rye marked a significant milestone in her career, bringing her work to a broader audience and establishing her presence in the regional art scene. This exposure has led to collaborations with other artists and invitations to participate in various art fairs and exhibitions.
Through her art, Judi continues to explore the interplay between natural materials and artistic expression, creating pieces that resonate with both personal meaning and universal appeal. Her work not only beautifies spaces but also invites viewers to reflect on the intricate relationship between humanity and the natural world.
